BTC Speciality Chemical Distribution sells and markets the full range of BASF resins as well as selected complementary 3rd party resions.
Our resins portfolio offers a wide variety of resins with customized performance profiles for a multitude of different application fields in the coatings industry, printing inks industry and the architectural coatings industry.
BTC supplies high-quality resins and crosslinker components such as polyisocyanates and amino resins for application in automotive coatings (OEM and refinishing, solid and effect shades).
The Acronal® L and F grades are polymers, based on acrylic ester-dispersions. They are lightfast, ageing-resistant soft resins for plasticizing binders and improving adhesion on various substrates. Acronal® L dispersions are aqueous acrylate-styrene dispersions with various film-forming temperatures. Acronal® L and F grades are used to manufacture physically drying anticorrosion coatings on iron, steel and nonferrous metals.
Polyisocyanates hardeners based on biuretized, isocyanuratized or allophanatized hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and/or trimerized isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) are used for lightfast, weather-resistant 2K polyurethane (abbr. PUR) top coats and as primers on difficult substrates. Hardeners based on aromatic polyisocyanates (TDI) are used when the light fastness and elasticity demands are not so high.
Laromer® is BASF's trademark for radiation-curable binders and monomers. Combining these epoxy acrylates, polyester acrylates, polyether acrylates, urethane acrylates and functional monomers yields coatings with specific properties. The water-based UV emulsions and dispersions open up new applications in UV coatings technology.
Laromin® is BASF's trademark for aliphatic and cycloaliphatic amine hardeners for solvent-based and solvent-free epoxy coatings. Can be used as a sole hardener or as a component of hardener formulations.
The Laropal® A and K grades are colourless aldehyde and ketone resins with broad compatibility and solubility in organic solvents. They are suitable for manufacturing pigment pastes and are used as cobinders in various coating systems for modifying application properties such as hardness, body, gloss and rheology.
Luhydran® S 937 T is a self- and co-crosslinking dispersion used in conjunction with acrylate/melamine for OEM base coates.
The Luwipal® range amino resins find application in baking finishes, acid-curing paints and physically drying paints. They are mainly used in combination with various binders to produce particularly hard, glossy coatings that are stable to weathering, yellowing and chemicals. The Luwipal® B grades are characterized by high film flexibility and resistance to chemicals. However, since these grades contain benzoguanamine in their molecular structure, they are not stable to light or weathering.
The BASF Plastopal® range includes both rigid and plasticized urea-formaldehyde resins. They are applied in baking finishes, acid-curing paints and physically drying paints. Depending on the resin composition, either solvent-based or water-based systems can be formulated. They are mainly used to produce coatings that, with the added effect of the cobinder, are more adhesive, flexible, stable to overbaking and cost-efficient than melamine-formaldehyde resins.
